James A. Warren letter and telegrams, 1906 Apr. 19-24.

Five-page typed letter from James A. Warren, to his son, David Warren (addressed as "Pete" in the salutation), written from Portland on April 21, after escaping the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire. Describes the progress of the fire and his movements through and out of the city to Oakland and then to Portland. Handwritten postscript strongly advises his son not to continue his efforts to get to San Francisco but to return at once to Bonita. Includes four telegrams, sent from various places and persons, care of Earl Wilbur in Berkeley, Calif., informing the younger Warren of his father's safety and whereabouts.
